The Snoqualmie District is the southern most district of the 1.7
million acre Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie Forest. Two major “drainages”
flow through the district. In the southern area at the north
base of Mt. Rainier running from the northeast entry of the Mt.
Rainier National Park to Enumclaw is the White River with
Highway 410 along its edge giving access to incredible old
growth forested regions and vast valleys of Douglas Fir forests.
The two campgrounds on Hwy 410 are near the entry of the Park
and at the base of Crystal Ski Area. Both are nestled in giant
rain forest trees mostly consisting of Douglas Fir and Red
Cedar. Both campgrounds are very RV friendly with paved camp
roads, and some cell phone coverage in the campgrounds and
nearby. The tourist and ski town of Greenwater is close by with
Enumclaw also only a half hour away.
In the north section of the
district is the area most easily accessible to the Metro area of
Seattle. Due east of the city close to I-90 are over 100
campsites located in three campgrounds, Denny Creek, which has
some RV hookups with power, Tinkham, a more rustic campground
that is less than an hour from I-5, and finally Middle Fork,
which even though it is close to one of the nations largest
cities is still relatively remote and isolated. The Snoqualmie
River runs along the Interstate and provides fishing and nature
trails that are easy to use. Hundreds of miles of trails ranging
from “anyone can do it” to expert only give access to peaceful
mountain lakes and scenic ridge vistas. There is a district
office in North Bend just off I-90 and one in Enumclaw on Hwy
410 for further information plus our hosts should be able to
provide you with activity ideas as well.
