RESERVATION ADVICE: All reservations for federal campgrounds or National Parks will be made through their new website recreation.gov. Their phone is 1-877-444-6777 or click on their logo at the bottom of this page. For reservations at Patio RV Park, Black Butte RV and Motel Resort, Dexter Shores RV Park, or at Hoodoo Ski Area, it is best to either email or call the individual parks, but for help you can also either email us or call 541-822-3799. USFS reservations must be made at least seven days in advance in Oregon and with two to four days in advance in Washington. Reservations for Hoodoo or the private Hoodoo RV parks may be made 48 hours in advance through Hoodoo or at the last minute by calling the parks directly. The Reservation fee for USFS campgrounds cost about $10. This is a one time fee for the designated site and only is paid once for the length of the reservation. Group sites have only one reservation fee for the length of the reservation even if they include several sites that are designated to be a group. There is no reservation fee for Hoodoo, Patio, Dexter Shores, or Black Butte. Reservation parks and information may be found further down on this page. Please note that we have found many mistakes in the reservation.gov website from fees to information about the campground itself. When we find a mistake, we ask them to correct them, but we do not control what they do. Sometimes they correct mistakes and then have problems and the mistakes are worse than ever. When there is a discrepancy the Hoodoo website is the source of information that rules. It is best to get your basic information from our Hoodoo website before you make your reservations.
If you call the NRRS reservation service they may tell you that the campground is full for that day. This only means that the RESERVATION SITES are full. They will NEVER know if the whole campground is full unless it is a group site. There are only three campgrounds that are all reservation and they are rarely full, Sheep Springs Horse Camp, Olallie, and Scout Lake. It is also best to have reservations for our group organization campgrounds. Otherwise most campgrounds, if they offer reservations, still have 40% or more sites left for those who choose not to make reservations. In addition most campgrounds have other campgrounds nearby where sites may be empty. Study our area maps carefully and check for second choices. During the Memorial Weekend, July 4 weekend, and Labor Day Weekend campgrounds will start filling up everywhere. This will be a good time to make reservations or arrive early if possible. Of course the first come first serve sites are available, but you should get there early. If you do come early remember to set up your tent site and pay your fee otherwise it will be assumed that the site is vacant. You are supposed to be there the first night and fees must always be paid.
If you are using a Golden Age or Access Card to make a reservation, there are some points to keep in mind. The cards may only be used to reserve one campsite during a period of time for the person who owns the card. It is possible that the NRRS may allow you to make multiple reservations if they don't catch it, but the host at the campground will check your card and you must have it with you when you check in. If you have reserved more than one campsite during the same period of time with the card, or if the card holder is not present, the campers will be asked to pay the full fees. Also if you have used the card to reserve a site that card may not be used with an extra vehicle as well.
To make a reservation at a specific campground, the easiest way is to go to our Openings and Closings Page and then click on the specific reservable campground that you are interested in. On that page you will find the reservation sites listed in red. From the information there you might pick your desired site. Then click on the NRRS logo at the bottom of that page or the one on the front page, or the bottom of this page. On the first page of the recreation.gov website you will pick Oregon as the desired state and then click SEARCH. In the Oregon site submit the name of the campground if you know it, or scroll through the list. However, it is a long list and it would be better if you looked at the bottom of this page and picked the campground that you wanted. The dates of opening and closing below are those dates during which reservations are taken. Normally we are open longer than this without reservations. As stated above most of our campgrounds are only half reserveable, so if they say that the campground is full this means that only the reservable sites are gone. It costs about $10 for a reservation. This fee goes to a company back east, not to Hoodoo. For individual campsites any vehicles other than the first vehicle must pay an extra vehicle fee at the campground. The fee is one half the camp fee per night.
If you later decide to change the reservation site through the NRRS you will be charged $10 by the NRRS. However, if you come to the campground and find another site within that campground to which you would like to move, that is not reserved, you may with permission from a Hoodoo employee move your fees to the other site without paying an additional reservation fee. Your fee can not be transferred to another Hoodoo campground, sorry. We do not see any of your reservation fees and have no control over your reservation unless you actually camp at the campground. If you have a problem with the reservation, you may find that Hoodoo might not have any information. You will have to call the NRRS number above or below to solve reservation problems. If you decide to cancel your reservations a week before your reserved date, you may do so with full return of campground fees (the money that would have gone to Hoodoo), but your reservation fee (the amount that went to the NRRS) will be kept.
Below are the prices for individual reservations. The prices are for the site with one vehicle. Most sites have an extra vehicle fee. Click on the campground names to go to the individual campground page for further information. Group prices are also available. See the group page for the names of campgrounds that have group sites.
