Why Camp Here
Clear Creek is the town of Darrington’s local campground. Perhaps the main reason someone would want to camp here besides visiting the town of Darrington is to see the nearby mountain peaks and glaciers. The Sauk River is only steps away and this is a perfect place to start a tour of the Mountain Loop Road. Most people visit this area by staying at the other end of the Loop near Gold Basin Campground which might be all the more reason to stay at this end of the Loop instead. Darrington is only about a half hour away from Arlington so it is an easy drive to get away from it all.
Good to Know
Here you can camp within a short bicycle ride (about 4 miles) to the Burger Barn for a milkshake, burger, and onion rings or even hike to USFS district offices for more information. (Yes, you can drive too). And if gambling is your thing, Clear Creek is a great place to stay for cheap when you lose your money at the Arlington area casino.
The campground is normally hosted by a host site at Clear Creek from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend. Otherwise an attendant will be visiting the campground two to four times per day.
RV use rating is 3 out of 5
