Why Camp Here
Walupt Lake Campground is one of high lake campgrounds along Mt Adams in the Gifford Pinchot Forest. The lake, with 384 acres is the second largest in the Gifford Pinchot Forest and is popular for Rainbow and Cutthroat Trout fishing. The campground is also popular as a starting destination for two wilderness trails. The campground is located at the end of FS Road 2160 past Adam’s Fork. It is at a 4,000 altitude so in most years it doesn’t open until at least mid June. The horse campground is somewhat more rustic than the regular campground.
Good to Know
Boats are limited to 10 MPH and less.
RV use rating is 4 out of 5
We expect to have a host in the Walupt Lake campground from about Mid June to Labor Day Weekend. Otherwise an attendant will be in the campground two to four times per day.
PLEASE, Horse campgrounds are meant for those with horses, it can be dangerous to have people who are unfamiliar with horse camped nearby. Also horse campgrounds are limited and there are plenty of other campgrounds where those without horses can stay so please be courteous.
Horse Campers may only use Certified Weed-Seed-Free Hay when you stay at any of our USFS Horse Campgrounds (Certified Weed-Seed-Free Hay has a unique color twine). For more information please call your local USFS Ranger station or click on the link here. Hay is available through Matt Cyrus at 541-771-4980 17430 Hwy 126 between Sisters and Redmond.
