Why Camp Here
This high lakes area opening is very snow dependant. In low snow years it will open early to mid June and in heavy snow years we will try to plow to make sure it is open by July 4th. The campground is a very popular base camp for hikers who would like to travel the trails of Mt. Adams. This location offers breathtaking views of not only Mt. Adams, but also Mt. Rainier, and Mt. Saint Helens. The campground consists of 54 back in sites that have parking spurs that vary from 15 to 40 feet in length. The Premium Sites are adjacent to the lake. This quiet well shaded location makes a great base camp for activities like: fishing, hunting, hiking, bike riding, and sightseeing.

Good to Know
Due to past problems the water system in this campground has been removed, so campers should be warned that they should bring along their own drinking water. WE DO NOT HAVE WATER AVAILABLE TO FILL AN RV.

We expect to have a host in the campground from about July 1 through most of September. Otherwise an attendant will be in the campground two to four times per day.

Driving Directions

From I-5 take Exit 68 east on US-HWY 12 to Randle WA. Turn south onto Hwy 131 and travel for about a mile then take a left at the “Y” to continue on Forest Service Road 23.  Stay on FS 23 for about 30 miles (the last 7 miles are unpaved), then take a left onto Forest Service Road 2329. Continue through the junction with Forest Road 5601, then proceed to the entrance to the campground.
