Why Camp Here
This campground is one of the most popular campgrounds in Oregon’s US Forest in terms of non vacant sites. On the shore of Lake Billy Chinook at 2000 feet elevation, Perry South features 64 camping sites, most first come, first served.
Good to Know
If you are coming for the weekend, we recommend trying to arrive early on Friday if possible. During the heart of the season after July 4th and especially on Memorial Weekend campers often come on Wednesday to get the best sites. A day use fee of $5 is charged for those parking here for the day only or $10 for overnight parking for houseboat campers.
Boat speeds on Lake Billy Chinook are unlimited in the area around Perry South, but there are areas of the lake where a 10 MPH speed must be maintained and always obey the “slow, no wake” signs
Host is in the campground from about Memorial Weekend to Labor Day Weekend.
Memorial Weekend Only - Please note that special rates are in use during Memorial Weekend since this is a particularly crowded weekend and extra Hoodoo and USFS staff are on duty. Each site will have a certain number of vehicles and persons allowed and this will be strictly enforced, so please check with host as you come in if you have any questions. Please realize that this campground is sometimes loud on Memorial Weekend. If you want a quiet, peaceful, nature experience this IS NOT the place to be on this weekend. While parties are closely watched for illegal drinking or drugs we do realize that many people do come here to party with their friends and you should be warned of this also. However, campers are still expected to obey the rules and may be asked to leave without a refund it this becomes a problem. No one will be allowed in after 10 PM, you will be turned back at the upper road, so plan accordingly. Please, no parking on the entry road.
