Why Camp Here
On the shore of Lake Billy Chinook at 2000 feet elevation, Monty features 32 camping sites, all first come, first served. Monty is found just after driving about five miles past Perry South, one of Oregon’s USFS most popular campgrounds.  You will rarely find others camping here which makes it one of our quieter and more private campgrounds.

Good to Know
Due to its’ close proximity to the well-known Perry South campground, Monty is a much quieter and seldom used campground.  However campers traveling here should still be careful on the 5 mile bumpy access road as it is mostly one lane and the steep bank goes down quickly to the lake about 100 feet below. While the campground is on the water at the junction of the Metolius River and Lake Billy Chinook, the river runs fast here and is not appropriate for swimming or boating. It is a good area, however, to put or take out a kayak.

There is NO WATER at Monty, but water is available next door at Perry South.

Normally the Perry South host takes care of Monty from Memorial Day Weekend through at least the Labor Day Weekend otherwise there will be an attendant who will be visiting the campground each day.
