Why Camp Here
Prairie is the first campground that you come to as you leave Hwy 97 and head into the crater area of Newberry Monument. This campground is still outside the Monument area itself where you do have to pay a small fee to visit. It is a good one for those who would like to pull off Hwy 97 as they travel North and South or would just like to take a break in a nice area without a lot of other campers. The sites are large and secluded, good enough for even the largest RVs or trailers with easy access as well.

Good to Know
Some campers prefer to camp here and drive into the monument area rather than camping there where the price is a little higher. There is an RV dump station near the entry of Paulina Lake Campground. The fee is $10 (sorry septic hauling fees have gone through the roof)

We expect to have a host in the campground from about Memorial Weekend to Labor Day Weekend. When a host is not present an attendant visits the campground two to four times per day.
