Why Camp Here
A great way to explore the Metolius River Basin area is by horseback and Sheep Springs Horse Camp is the place to stay. Located five miles northwest of Camp Sherman in the beautiful Metolius Basin, there are eleven sites with 44 individual box stalls.
Good to Know
Riders in this area should be careful of burned over trees from the 2003 B&B fire. More information and other amenities like fee showers and RV dump information are available at Hoodoo’s Camp Sherman RV Park (541-595-6514) in the town of Camp Sherman.
Host is in the campground from about Memorial Weekend through Labor Day Weekend. Otherwise the campground will be visited by an attendant two to four times per day.
PLEASE, Horse campgrounds are meant for those with horses, it can be dangerous to have people who are unfamiliar with horse camped nearby. Also horse campgrounds are limited and there are plenty of other campgrounds where those without horses can stay so please be courteous.
Horse Campers may only use Certified Weed-Seed-Free Hay when you stay at any of our USFS Horse Campgrounds (Certified Weed-Seed-Free Hay has a unique color twine). For more information please call your local USFS Ranger station or click on the link here. Hay is available through Matt Cyrus at 541-771-4980 17430 Hwy 126 between Sisters and Redmond.
