Why Camp Here
Gorge is the fifth campground that you come to on the Metolius River, making it is more isolated and quieter than its neighbors. The Wizard Falls Fish Hatchery is  close by where you can see fish ranging from the ones to small to be released, to the large ones that are fed here and saved for some lucky tikes on kids fishing day. There is a path along the river that can be followed all the way into the little town of Camp Sherman or you might like to ride your bikes on the road that leads from Camp Sherman to all of the campgrounds. This area is normally sunny, but still has the giant trees of the Cascade Mountains. Instead of the usual Douglas Firs, we have some of the larges Ponderosa Pines in the area. 

Good to Know
For those of you who miss the ability to take a shower or use the laundry or even need an RV dump these amenities are available for a fee at Hoodoo’s Camp Sherman RV and Motel (formerly Black Butte Resort), located next to the school as you enter Camp Sherman. The host will be glad to help with questions about the campgrounds as well.  Also an RV dump is available at the Hoodoo Lodge from 9AM to 4PM.

This is normally an non-hosted campground, but an attendant will visit two to four times per day.

There is NO WATER at Gorge, however you may go to Allingham, Smiling River or Camp Sherman and get water there. Water is also available at the Allingham Guard Station.
