Why Camp Here
Occasionally, we get asked by reporters to give an example of a hidden treasure that few people know about. This is that campground. Contorta Flat is isolated on the far side of Crescent Lake at the top of the Willamette Pass. Although the sites are ideal for large RVs, there are some great tent sites as well right on the lake. You will need to go a little off the beaten path by taking a gravel road for the last few miles, but what you may find is a very nice campground with only you and your family occupying it. The sites are all close to the lake and large, but not isolated from one another. This campground might be the best deal in the Oregon Cascades.
Good to Know
There is cell coverage but no water so bring your own. If you want to do something other than camp, there is a great resort on Crescent Lake near the entry to the area, stop in for groceries or a meal.
Motor boats for water skiing are allowed on Crescent Lake
The campground does not have a host, but a Hoodoo attendant visits two to four times a day.

Directions

From Highway 58 at the Crescent Lake Junction, follow Forest Service Road 60 around Crescent Lake for about 10 miles. Then travel one mile west on Forest Service Road 280, and proceed to the entrance to the campground.
