Perched on a hill overlooking the
south end of Clear Lake, Coldwater
Cove is the favorite of many and
disappoints no one. The crystal clear water of Clear Lake is a joy to boat
on, but no motors are permitted. Take a leisurely paddle to Clear Lake
Resort for a hamburger or perhaps jog the 10K trail around the lake if you are
feeling more ambitious. Actually, just sitting around the campsite is fun,
too. The McKenzie Trail starts just above this area and follows the
McKenzie River down to about McKenzie Bridge. Which site is the best at
Coldwater
Cove? Well, check out the view
from double-sized site #17.
Cold Water Cove
is located at a 2900 foot elevation on Clear Lake off Highway 126. The area
is nicely treed with Douglas fir and hemlock. Terrain is hilly and built upon lava flows.
The campground has 4 vault style comfort stations, 3 pumps
and 6 waste water sumps.
