If you haven't visited the Metolius River area you haven't seen Oregon. The
river springs from its source full blast. When you camp here make sure you visit
the source referred to as the Head of the Metolius. The
river stays at about the same flow throughout the year.
Camp
Sherman is the first campground that
you come to after going through the town of Camp
Sherman. Like other nearby campgrounds
it is located right on the river. A bicycle is suggested as the best way to
visit the area. Fly fishing only is allowed on the Metolius. Camp
Sherman is available for camping with reduced fees after the end of the season,
but
with reduced facilities (no garbage pick-up or available water).
For those of you who miss the ability to take a
shower or use the laundry or even need an RV dump these amenities are available
for a fee at Hoodoo's Camp Sherman RV and Motel (aka. Black Butte RV Park).
The RV Park is located next to the school as you enter Camp Sherman. The
host will be glad to help with questions about the campgrounds as well. Also an RV dump is available at the Hoodoo Lodge from 9AM to
4PM.
