The day use site includes a picnic area, and interpretive accessible trail, and provides parking for visitors coming to explore the included Boulder Cave National Recreation Trail. The cave trail is a nationally and regionally promoted destination, and is a very popular destination site for visitors and residents alike. The parking area is paved.

The picnic area is located near Boulder Cave Trailhead and includes a multifamily shelter with a large stone fireplace that was built by the CCC in 1935. Drinking water is supplies by a hand pump. Picnic tables, fire rings and a barrier free composting toilet are also on site.

The interpretive river trail runs north of the trailhead. It is a 3/4 mile barrier free paved loop designed to provide easy access to the Naches River for everyone. Users can leisurely admire nature's beauty or fish along the Naches River. Resting benches and quaint wooden bridges encourage visitors to linger and enjoy the sights sounds of the out-of-doors.

The Boulder Cave National Recreation Trail is less than 2 miles long round trip and takes about an hour round trip to walk. The gravel trail gains about 200 feet in elevation and runs along the edge of a deep ravine, climbing gradually through a forest of Douglas-fir and Ponderosa pine. Devil's Creek flows through the bottom of the ravine, framed by trees and several species of broad leafed shrubs. In autumn, the golden tones of the leaves splash new color across the landscape, contrasting sharply with the evergreen forest. A platform along the trail provides visitors with unique waterfall views. Interpretive signs along the route tell the natural history of the environment and explain how the cave was formed.

Directions: The day use site is located in Yakima County, approximately 38 miles east of Yakima. To get there, take Highway 12 west to the junction with Highway 410. Travel 22 miles on Highway 410 to Forest Service Road 1706 and turn right, following the signs pointing towards Boulder Cave.
