area in this campground.

campground from May 30 to Labor Day Weekend.

You
will not have a hard time remembering the name of this campground once you have
been here, because the springs are awesome. You may even sight a Salmon or two
heading up to the source of the water as they head up stream. Silver Springs is one of the nicest campgrounds I have been
in. Located in an incredible old growth forest with giant Douglas Firs and Red Cedars towering overhead along the White River, this campground is the perfect place to spend some time in the Washington that our ancestors first experienced. Walk or wheel chair along the John Muir trails amongst the giants up to nine feet across and 250 feet tall, or enjoy a longer hike in the forest.
To make things even better, Silver Springs is located at the edge of the Mt.
Rainier National Park without actually being in it which means no entrance fees
to get into the park to camp. Large full size RVs are welcome and you will find
a lot of roomy spurs and sites, except sites 35 through 42 where tight turns may
be limiting for an RV. You can camp in one of the roomy and mostly secluded sites or just spend the day for $5 with a sheltered picnic area available. If your group wants to reserve the Shelter Day Use area, you may do that with a $50 fee through the NRRS.

Summer of
2008 6/21-8/30. Each Saturday starting around 11 AM
someone from the Salmon Enhancement Group will be
willing to take interested individuals on a walk from
the campground to nearby areas of interest. (check with
the host or at the entry area for exact times.) This
will give you a chance to learn something about the
effort to save the salmon habitat and about the White
River area is general. Campers or passers by are welcome
to join in on this informative and fun walk. Meet at the
host site near the campground entry. Walks are planned
for The Dalles and Silver Springs campgrounds. If you
are just coming in for the day, please remember that
there is a $5 per vehicle day use fee. |
