The Middle
Fork Campground is the newest, nicest, and one of the most remote campgrounds in the Mt.
Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. Currently, this campground is not for the
faint of heart to get to. Most of the road in is gravel and sometimes potholed.
RVs and trailers should proceed cautiously to avoid getting shaken up. Much of
the road was just bladed in early June of 2008 which should help. However, the area is very popular with the locals. Cars will be
pulled over all along the road where people have parked while swimming or
fishing in one of the deep pools of the North Fork of the Snoqualmie. The
campground is spacious and excellent for middle size groups or scout troops. You
can pretty much count on getting a site here, and reservations are not needed
unless you want a specific site or perhaps on Labor Day Weekend. Take the
opportunity to go up to the day use picnic area where the view makes you think
that you are in a Swiss Valley in the Alps. Camping sites 37-39 are also located
with this view, but you need to walk a short distance up to these sites. There are two
group sites #3 and #6. The group sites cost $40. There are four very nice multisites at #1, #2, #4, and #7 which are $25. You may have up to 25 people in
the group site with up to 5 vehicles in each group site. The multisites may have
up to 16 people and two vehicles are paid with the site.
Host
may be in the
campground from around July 4 Weekend to Labor Day Weekend. Otherwise an
attendant cares for the campground each day. Pay at the iron ranger at the entry
and the attendant will give you a receipt on your site post.
