THE SOUTH CASCADE LAKES AREA is part of the Bend Fort Rock District located on the Cascades Lake Hwy (aka Odell Lake Road) We have somewhat arbitrarily separated the Cascade Lake campgrounds into two sections to make them more manageable, but both the north and south sections are very similar to one another. The north section includes campground mostly on smaller lakes while the southern section includes campgrounds mostly on larger reservoirs and on the Deschutes River. Crane Prairie and Wickiup Reservoirs dominate the southern section, but it also contains the north and south Twin Lakes along with the many smaller campgrounds on the Deschutes River. There are four group sites, one at Big River Campground, two at Gull Point, and the largest at Crane Prairie. The campgrounds vary from the very small Wyeth with five sites to the very large Crane Prairie with 140 sites. Gull Point has a couple newly improved day use areas (be sure to purchase a NW Forest Pass). There is a resort next to the campgrounds at Crane Prairie and South Twin.
