Elk Lake Campground is an older style small hill side campground that is popular
with tent campers, but probably not the best for RV campers with RVs or trailers
over 30 feet (except host site if unoccupied). The roads are somewhat difficult
to navigate and the spurs are small. However, there are plenty of excellent tent
sites. There are four tent only sites near the water. There is a pressurized
water system and two modern CXT vault style bathrooms. There is cell phone
coverage and the roads are paved within the campground. There is a day use area
at the water front with a boat ramp. Non campers need to have a NW Forest Pass
to use the area for the day.
10 MPH speed limit is enforced for
boating on Elk.
We expect to have a host in the campground from about Memorial Weekend to
Labor Day Weekend. Otherwise an attendant will be visiting the campground two to
four times per day.
