Candle Creek is the last campground that you come to on the Metolius
River. It is the most isolated of the campgrounds and although it was just
upgraded in 2003 it is the least developed campground . It is located 13 miles in
from Hwy 20 at the Camp Sherman turn off. This is a very popular campground with
the locals because of its location. It is at the end of the Metolius Valley and
on the river where the rapids start. You get to it by crossing the river at
Lower Bridge and continuing along a mostly gravel road for two more miles.
For
those of you who miss the ability to take a shower or use the laundry or even
need an RV dump these amenities are available for a fee at
Hoodoo's Black Butte
RV and Motel (aka. Camp Sherman RV Park). Black Butte RV Park is located next to
the school as you enter Camp Sherman. The host will be glad to help with
questions about the campgrounds as well. On crowded weekends he may have
information about which campgrounds still have sites available. Also an RV dump
is available at the Hoodoo Lodge from 9AM to 4PM.
There is one vault
CXT toilet and no water system.
This is normally an non-hosted
campground, but an attendant will visit two to four times per day.
