Occasionally, we get asked by reporters "give me an example of a hidden treasure that few people know about". This is that campground. Contorta Flat is isolated on the far side of Crescent Lake at the top of the Willamette Pass. Although the sites are ideal for large RVs, there are some great tent sites as well right on the lake. You will need to go a little off the beaten path by taking a gravel road for the last few miles, but what you may find is a very nice campground with only you and your family occupying it. The sites are all close to the lake and large, but not isolated from one another. There is cell coverage but no water so bring your own. There is one double CXT style vault toilet. This campground might be the best deal in the Oregon Cascades. If you want to do something other than camp, there is a great resort on Crescent Lake near the entry to the area, stop in for groceries or a meal.

Motor boats for water skiing are allowed on Crescent Lake

    The campground does not have a host, but a Hoodoo attendant visits two to four times a day. Pay at the iron ranger when you find your site.
