Don't
let the remoteness of Bedal scare you off. The campground is located in an old
mining area of Washington.
Miners of a previous time would bore the hillsides looking
for gold and silver.
Today an occasional modern day gold bug can still
be found examining the rocks in the nearby Sauk River.
Even though the nearest
civilization is about 10 somewhat bumpy gravel miles away, the Mountain Loop
Road is thought to get as many as a half million site seers a year. The mountain
peaks rise quickly from the river banks, and the tall timber only enhances the
upward majesty of the scenery. Leave your expensive RV at home, but the
campsites have roomy spurs and the campground is rarely full.
The campground
is open from May 22 to Sept 8, 2008.
Host is in the
campground from about late June to Labor Day Weekend.
