Visit Us at www.blackbutterv.com Go back in time by visiting Camp Sherman in the Metolius River Valley. One gets the feeling of a 1950s style resort town when you visit this forgotten corner of Oregon. Whether it be the quaint community center, the local school (which holds classes at Hoodoo Ski Area on Fridays during the ski season) or the Camp Sherman Store located in the center of town, you can't help but feel that you wish you could figure out how to get a job that would allow you to make your home here permanently. (Good luck finding a house though!) Black Butte Resort gives you a place where you can stay in comfort for an extended period or more commonly just spend a few very enjoyable days. The town of Camp Sherman is located just 20 minutes downhill from the Cascade Summit of Hwy 20 where Hoodoo Mountain Resort and Big Lake Recreation area are located. In addition it is located only about 10 minutes from golfing at Black Butte Ranch or boating and camping at Suttle Lake. The fast growing recreation center of Bend is about 35 minutes on Hwy 20 to the east and the old west town of Sisters with its many towering Cascade peaks in the background is only 15 minutes away. A little warning here, this area is extremely popular during the summer and normally full during the weekends. However, Hoodoo Recreation, which manages Black Butte Resort, also manages about 200 US Forest Service campgrounds in the area. So even if all the sites are full, if you stop in without a reservation, it is possible that you can get a great nonhookup site on the Metolius while waiting for a site to become available at Black Butte. Our prices are great also. The six motel rooms are spacious, clean, individually decorated, and some have kitchenettes as well. This is a remote location where you go to get away from it all, and as such the owners long ago made the decision to not provide either phones or TVs although both are available through the main office. Summer prices (May 27 though Sept 30) are $85 or less per night for up to 4 persons per room. (pets extra); summer discounts with AAA or for those lucky people 65 and over. Winter discounts are also available as are winter packages that include ski tickets to Hoodoo Ski Area. Mostly though Black Butte is known for its RV hookups. Daily, weekly, and monthly rates are available. Daily rates for full hookups are $24.50 (for all daily and weekly rates add a 7% county and state tax). Water and electric hookups with a free RV dump available is $23.50. Weekly rates are $147 and $139 and summer monthly rates (May though Oct) (full hookup only) are $350.
